Getting to Victoria from Edmonton is an interesting challenge that seriously benefits from amazing organizers like Nelson. But it works and the drive through the Rockies is beautiful! We left at 5:30am and saw the snowy peaks at about 8:30 am just outside of Edson. It was a gorgeous trip, and despite a rockfall traffic halt at Mount Robson and a Tulip festival slowdown in Abbotsford, we made the 7pm ferry. Gear is now unloaded and we're excited to meet the rest of the team tomorrow morning to load the ship. This is what keeps me up at night! Yes... we can now see what May 12th might be like for weather. I use Windalert.com which seems pretty accurate. Last night it showed the tail of a massive storm rushing up through Hecate Strait on May 12th...but look! this morning they predict that storm will have disappeared! Really??? I hope so. We aim to be on site the morning of May 12 (next Friday I think). |
